VineBrook Homes is an internally managed Midwest/Heartland-based real estate investment company, focused on acquiring, renovating, leasing and operating single-family homes as rental properties. An early investor and developer of the Single-Family Rental home (SFR) asset class, we commenced operations in late 2007. Our proven, yield-focused investment strategy targets a unique opportunity building a portfolio of “Optimal House” assets in key Midwest markets. We own or manage over 8,000 Single Family Rental Homes throughout the Midwest. Additionally, VineBrook Homes is currently undergoing the next major expansion of its strategy, expecting to drive toward 10,000-15,000+ Homes.
The Assistant Controller is a senior leader in the Accounting department with responsibility for ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Accounting team personnel, responsible for managing the Company’s accounting records, financial reporting and process control functions.
Manage preparation of internal and external Financial Reporting requirements in compliance with US GAAP principles, SEC regulatory guidelines, and internal controls
Lead annual PCAOB based Audit process
Oversee Federal, State, and Local Tax compliance staff
Research and resolve accounting issues including evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements to ensure US GAAP compliance
Design and maintain systems of internal controls and financial records, making use of current technologies
Prepare consistent reporting designed to help Operational management meet budgetary and profitability goals
Develops strategic process improvements and oversees cross functional project teams to execute these initiatives
Creates and updates policy and procedures documents for accounting personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
5+ years’ experience in Accounting field
2+ years Financial reporting experience, public reporting is a plus
Ability to communicate clear and effectively, both written and verbal
Ability to conduct business and manage in an ethical manner
Excellent Microsoft Office skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)
Public Accounting experience
Public / SEC reporting experience
