About Us:

ALM Hopewell Center provides comprehensive mental health services to children and adults in the northern and central parts of the City of St. Louis and North St. Louis City. A professional mental health staff serves a growing caseload of 2,800 patients, of which greater than ninety-five percent are chronically mentally ill and suffering from major psychiatric disorders. Hopewell Center operates a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center and a Comprehensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center for adults and youth. Many services are provided at schools. Emergency services, including a crisis bed and mobile outreach, are available twenty-four hours per day. A multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, counselors, social workers, educators, and support staff work diligently to carry out the mission of providing comprehensive care to patients and their families.
The Community Behavioral Health Liaison (CMHL) is responsible for the development of a regional approach to strengthening community support for individuals requiring civil involuntary detention or who have complex mental health needs. To assist in forming better community partnerships with crisis systems, law enforcement agencies, and the courts to best utilize existing resources and improve access to behavioral health services.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Coordinate services and develop local systems of care for individuals with behavioral health needs who have come to the attention of law enforcement officials, the courts and hospital emergency departments. Participate on local law enforcement Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT) or other initiatives that assist law enforcement in dealing with individuals with behavioral health needs Provide Facility Designee and Law Enforcement CID training for CIT program Collaborate with local partners in Mental Health Courts or other specialty or diversion courts dealing with behavioral health issues Provide or coordinate training and consultation on behavioral health issues for court clerks as needed In coordination with the ACI, assist law enforcement by working together in assessing individuals with behavioral health needs
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling with experience in direct clinical services in mental health working with children and families.
One (1) year experience in clinical supervision. Experience in community mental health is required. Requires excellent clinical assessment, treatment planning, and crisis intervention skills. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills of interpersonal engagement, DSM-IV framework, educational skill building, and child protection. Effective oral and written communication skills. Extensive knowledge of the St. Louis Area Mental Health Network.
CERTIFICATION OR LICENSE REQUIRED:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Professional Counselor is strongly preferred.
