Overview:

The SQL Server Database Developer must be passionate about technology and driving results. The candidate must be team oriented with a desire to achieve excellence. S/he must possess extreme attention to detail, a high level of accountability and responsibility, and proven ability to execute and deliver.

Responsibilities:

• Develop stored procedures used by ETL processes as well as re-write poorly performant application T-SQL code when needed.
• Participate on code review and version control of application code developed by our internal development team and assist with troubleshooting poorly performant processes and code.
• Create and deploy SSIS packages used to transform data used by several reports and ETL processes throughout the organization.
• Maintain and manage development and production support efforts, for various database related tasks adhering to database policies and procedures established by DBA team.
• Ensure that all production systems are supported and maintained according to departmental standards.
• Optimize and maintain legacy solutions.
• Motivated to deliver on committed timeframes and communicate and address issues as they arise.
• Enforce change control processes and controls.
• Design, manage and analyze business and application needs to assist with determining and evaluating potential solutions.
• Drive efforts to develop specifications and requirements.
• Work with project teams and developers to develop and track deliverables ensuring each adheres to defined standards and change control processes.
• Evaluate, optimize and assist with performance tuning, break/fix, space management, backup and recovery, database HA/DR setup and management for on premises as well as Azure SQL Servers.
• Willingness to learn database management tools currently used to support APCO’s database environment.
• Participate and assist with monthly deployments of database objects during scheduled deployments.
• Suggest and assist with the implementing database replication strategies, including database mirroring/Always-On, peer-to-peer, merge and transactional replication.
• Maintain a high level of awareness of current and future information technologies and IT best practices.

Requirements:

• Must be able to deliver multiple projects with aggressive timelines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently or within a team, as well as being self-motivated.
• Must be able to work after hours and weekends if necessary.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and concepts.
• BS Degree in Computer Science or other related technical discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience with RDBMS databases and familiar with database structures and objects.
• At least 2 years of Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL experience, preferably on versions 2008 and up. Including the ability to write complex T-SQL and troubleshooting poorly written code and make modifications as required.
• At least 2 years of experience developing complex SSIS packages.
• Familiarity with VSTS version control and code review processes.
• Experience with Azure SQL technologies such as Azure SQL and Managed Instances.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory a plus.
• Experience with No SQL technologies such as Azure Cosmos DB a plus.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to type and look at a computer screen for long periods of the day. The employee must be able to sit for long periods of time.
