Scrap Buyer

Basic Purpose: Manage the day-to-day execution of the Granges Americas scrap strategy with an emphasis on the Salisbury plant, including procurement and production strategies. Work directly with the corporate procurement teams, plant operations teams (in a cross-functional manner), and scrap yards/suppliers to achieve the target procurement volumes/savings and scrap consumption volumes.
Essential Functions:
Work with the scrap buyer to achieve monthly scrap target volumes and discounts
- Negotiate scrap pricing and spot/monthly/annual scrap contracts as necessary
- Coordinates with Scrap Buyer and Procurement Director to set targets on volumes/discounts each month and roadmap to meet and exceed those targets
- Confirms the material certifications on each load and works with the plant/suppliers to resolve any issues
- Works the plant/suppliers to resolve issues on quality/shape/etc
Mange the scrap inventories and production plans
- Keep updated listing of scrap inventories at plants and plans to consume any aged inventory
- Work with plant production teams and future planning for scrap to be bought/consumed as alloys are scheduled on the casters
- Work with SIOP to manage overall inventories and cash flows
Regularly visit scrap suppliers/yards
- Develop new sources of supply and material types to trial
- Conduct supplier audits as necessary
Lead cross-functional scrap discount teams in Salisbury
- Put together action plans and weekly/monthly meetings
- Setup metrics and scorecards to monitor scrap program and progress toward aggressive 2022 goals and increases

Position Requirements:
- Bachelor level degree and 4 – 8+ years of aluminum scrap metal procurement experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
