The Center for Urologic Care has been serving the community of Berks County for over 25 years. We are expanding and need compassionate, energetic, and patient-centric people to join our team.

We are seeking an experienced a Certified Medical Coder to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for coding and billing claims for our Ambulatory Surgical Center. Some of your additional daily duties will include submitting electronic claims, maintaining billing software, understanding prior-authorization requirements for medications and obtaining those authorizations, including retro-authorizations, appealing denied claims. managing assigned Accounts Receivable (A/R). Candidate must have proficient computer skills and be a certified medical coder with knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes.

To succeed in this role, you must possess in-depth knowledge of billing software and medical insurance policies. The ideal candidate must also be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as communicating with clients and various insurance agents will form a large part of the job.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies.
• Ensure the patient’s medical information is accurate and up to date.
• Prepare bills and invoices, and document amounts due for medical procedures and services.
• Collect and review referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Monitor and record late payments.
• Follow-up on missed payments and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Examine patient bills for accuracy and request any missing information.
• Investigate and appeal denied claims.
• Help patients develop patient payment plans.
• Maintain billing software by updating rate change, cash spreadsheets, and current collection reports.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Medical Coder
• Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records.
• Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities.

The ideal candidate should be detail oriented and able to work as a team with other billing associates. Three years of physician billing experience preferred.
