Job Summary:
The Human Resources Manager position is responsible for staffing, policy interpretation, coordination with benefits administration, training and development, and partnering with the management team to create and/or execute human resources initiatives to support business key initiatives and day-to-day operational needs.
Key Duties:
Ensure compliance with legal obligations, regulatory standards, and labor relations practices.
Lead culture change by translating desired culture into specific employee and managerial behaviors, challenging the status quo and championing the culture transformation process.
Direct the employment process for management, administrative, and hourly positions; to include the placement of ads, coordination of the interview process, coordination of the selection process, conducting background checks and drug screenings, and extending offers of employment.
Oversee new hire orientation and the completion of new hire paperwork.
Provide counsel and training to management on the administration of HR related company policies and procedures, and regarding compliance with all state and federal employment laws.
Gather information, at the direction of VP of HR and/or outside legal counsel, in anticipation of civil/legal action and serve as the focal point for legal matters pertaining to business units.
Serve as point of contact for management on sensitive Human Resources issues such as performance management and disciplinary actions, organization structure, employee development, and employee terminations.
Provide counsel to employees on the interpretation of various company policies and procedures such as vacation, vacation, and leave of absence eligibility.
Work with management and employees to investigate and resolve issues, complaints, and conflicts.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
Serves as a first responder for labor, workplace violence, accidents and other similar events and partnering with the Employee Health and Safety Specialist to determine next steps and ensure final resolution
Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation to include unemployment, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
Accepts fiduciary responsibility for Human Resources and communicates and maintains adherence to Meridian’s corporate policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) is required. HRCI or SHRM certification desired.
Must have up-to-date knowledge and understanding of human resources and employment practices (selection, interviewing, job evaluations, contract administration, etc.), normally acquired with a minimum of 3-5 years of HR experience required.
Experience with human resources function in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Skills, Specialized Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills for dealing with employees at all levels
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read, understand and follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and guidelines.
Computer proficiency at an intermediate level (Excel, Word).
Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality requirements.
Working knowledge of Targeted Selection
May be required to work additional hours outside the normal work shift (including evenings and weekends) as needed to ensure departmental goals are met.
Ability to handle information in a confidential manner.
Working knowledge of HRIS systems and reporting.
Demonstrated ability to successfully achieve results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Ability to develop effective metrics that are aligned to strategy.
Hold self and others accountable, appreciate others needs and perspectives, and commit to ensuring an inclusive environment.
Strong business acumen.
Proven ability to take a high level vision/strategy (HR and Business), then develop and implement a people strategy/plan that gets results.
Requirements (Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands):
Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs throughout the work day in a multi-location facility.
Ability to work on a PC including repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse for long periods throughout the course of the work day.
Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, reach, bend, stoop, lift throughout the course of the work day.
Must be able to analyze and concentrate routinely throughout the course of the work day
