JOB PURPOSE:

The Logistics Director leads the operations of the Logistics Department and develops logistics plans and procedures to ensure that business needs are met. Oversees the identification and implementation of initiatives to reduce operating expenses within the supply chain by applying traditional industrial engineering techniques (for example, work measurements, process improvement); collaborating with key cross functional teams (for example, manufacturing, fulfillment, account management) to align resources and identify priorities; partnering with material handling providers to identify and implement appropriate solutions, to include possible 3PL support. Oversee and manage the execution of export/import freight movement, including all export/import compliance requirements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage end-to-end logistics of the business to ensure all orders ship and deliver on time and in good condition
• Develop logistics strategies and optimize the logistics network and processes for new and existing business
• Supervise, coach and train logistics and shipping workforce
• Select and manage freight carriers, couriers, and logistics suppliers, including negotiating terms and contracts for carriers and freight forwarding
• Manage an effective process for international shipping including knowledge of export licensing requirements
• Strategically plan and manage logistics, shipping planning, transportation, and customer services
• Coordinate product delivery logistics with suppliers, importers, transportation companies and warehouse operations
• Develop and implement improvements to our logistics processes
• Source and negotiate contract pricing and terms for all modes of freight
• Identify & select the best logistics suppliers to work with
• Liaise and negotiate with freight carriers, 3PLs and warehouse space providers
• Arrange and catalog goods, plan routes and process shipments
• Meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets
• Maintain metrics and drive improvement for on-time delivery, transport costs and service quality

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Successful experience as logistics director in a manufacturing environment required
• Record of successful distribution and logistics management
• Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff
• Proficient in standard logistics software
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education Required: BS in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain required
