Under the direction of the Howard County Commissioners, the appointed Veterans Service Officer is a county officer. The Veterans Service Officer is responsible for assisting veterans and their families with the establishment of claims to secure privileges, rights and benefits to which they are entitled to. The Veterans Service Officer is also responsible for the efficient operation and management of the office and insuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
High school diploma or GED and must be an honorably discharged veteran with at least six (6) months of active service in the armed forces of the United States and must be a citizen of Indiana for at least five (5) years immediately preceding the County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO) appointment.
