Job Description
The human resources/payroll accountant is key to helping MCIT carry out its mission of providing cost-effective coverage with comprehensive and quality risk management services to its members by supporting the internal human resources and payroll functions of the organization.
MCIT is a joint powers government entity made up of Minnesota counties and associated public entities that pool resources to provide property, liability, auto and workers’ compensation coverage to members. Core Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of finance manager, the human resources/payroll accountant is responsible for providing human resources support and payroll functions within the finance unit. The position requires knowledge and skills in basic accounting and human resources operations. The incumbent is required to perform assigned duties in an organized, accurate and timely manner. The incumbent must exercise initiative consistent with objectives and priorities.
Typical Duties
The following are common duties of the human resources/payroll accountant:
- Maintaining and processing all payroll activity and systems
- Employee benefit enrollment and maintenance
- Supporting the recruitment, onboarding and exit processes
- Coordinating employee training initiatives
- Back-up to Finance Manager and Staff Accountant as needed.
- Other core payroll and human resources functions as assigned.
