New Story is seeking a qualified Safety Coordinator to support the development and implementation of safety-related protocols, policy, and planning aimed to prevent accidents, identify hazards and effectively respond to emergencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide support and guidance to HR partners related to employee incident reporting and incident management processes.
Measure safety-related key performance indicators (KPI) and provide ongoing trend analysis to the operational teams.
Coordinate and participate in loss run, claim review, and account meetings with worker’s compensation provider.
Support ongoing development and review of safety-related inspections, threat assessments, checklists, and forms.
Assist in the development of safety-related policies, procedures, and plans.
Work collaboratively with the Learning & Development team to conduct training needs assessments, review and make recommendations to current safety-related trainings.
Research and be knowledgeable of regulatory requirements related to emergency, health, and safety practices e.g., OSHA, CDC, Dept. of Education, state mandates, etc.
Support and actively participate in Regional and Corporate Safety & Security Committee meetings.
Provide supervisor-level training and guidance related to safety processes including but not limited to injury reporting, exposure control, and emergency response.
Collaborate with third-party consultants to develop safety-related plans, assessments, and training.
Develop safety communications and newsletters.
Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and hazardous conditions.
Orientate new HR Managers to the organization’s safety practices and plans.
Assist with onboarding newly acquired entities to the organization’s safety plans and processes.
WORK SKILLS
Great organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Excel.
Experience with measuring, reporting, and interpreting incident-related data is preferred.
Experience with preparing data visualizations is preferred.
Previous experience in the special education sector and worker’s compensation is a plus.
