Job Summary:
The Assistant Vice President of Human Resources (AVP, HR) provides senior-level leadership and guidance to the University of South Florida†s HR operations. As a transformational leader, the AVP, HR is accountable for defining, planning, and implementing effective, continuous, value-add change initiatives supporting the overall strategic plans of both the operational unit and the university. This position reports to the Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (VP, CHRO).Â
 Primary Job Duties:
 Provides planning and project management while concurrently facilitating efficient operations to meet the current and future needs of a large, complex, high-level research institution.
 Delivers leadership and consultation on highly sensitive/critical issues to help ensure that human resources practices across the university are effective, relevant, and support the needs of our university population.
 Researches and recommends human resources best practices and effectiveness. Responsible for supporting/developing new innovative programs, streamlined process workflows, workplace problem resolution, and high-impact, results-driven outcomes.
 Collaborates with senior leadership to support the organization†s long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support the human resources strategic plan and organizational unit key priorities.
Knowledge of union environments with the ability to navigate collective bargaining agreements (CBA†s) and the intersection with employee relations.
Researches and recommends human resources best practices and effectiveness. Responsible for supporting/developing new innovative programs, streamlined process workflows, workplace problem resolution, and high-impact, results-driven outcomes.
Provides leadership and oversight to the following functional areas within HR: Employee Relations, HR Policy and Regulatory Affairs, and Leave (including Workers Compensation and FMLA). At times the leader may partner with negotiators for CBA ratification and implementation.
Accountable for ensuring continuity and successful delivery of available services to customers throughout the university. Foster and maintain positive relationships with HR constituents; serve as an interface between internal/external customers and the functional team. Solicit feedback on service levels and implement changes where indicated.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising leadership on needed actions
 Participates in developing divisional plans as a strategic partner as they relate to goals, objectives, and operations.
 Manage, mentor, motivate, and supervise team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
