MAJOR POSITION DUTIES
Manage front-line communications for Mayor’s office to include phone, mail and email correspondence.
Identifies strategic opportunities to use social and news media tools and technology effectively. Coordinates development and implementation of social media tools with department representatives to enhance consistency.
Develops effective working relationships with key stakeholders, community groups, and City departments to foster collaboration. Act as liaison for City volunteer groups and special committees.
Assist with the prompt follow up of requests and questions from media, and community members.
Coordinate the Mayor’s calendar of internal meetings and public appearance. Triage public interactions; refer and respond to public requests on behalf of the City’s Chief Executive Office.
Coordinates communications to external customers to ensure consistent message.
Writes and edits press releases and speeches.
Develops content for print materials, correspondence, reports, advertising and news releases for mass distribution; and drafts articles and reports on the status of major initiatives for distribution to Council, the public, staff, and community stakeholders.
When required, select and work with communications consultants on special projects, acting as the main contact and overseeing project work.
Assists management and administrative staff in drafting, editing and producing correspondence, reports, etc.
Ensures brand consistency, both internal and external for the City of Kaukauna.
Organize and carry-out all other special projects or support other City departments/officials as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
