Responsibilities include:
Optimizing Redwood’s recruiting strategy and processes
Owning “are we closing our top candidates quickly enough, and if not, why?”
Helping run large scale Redwood programs such as the Machine Learning for Alignment Bootcamp (MLAB), summer internship programs, and more
Sourcing high-priority candidates
Creating new AI alignment and longtermist community-building programming for Redwood and other organizations in Constellation
Building an extensive personal global network within the longtermist and ML communities
Direct personal outreach to potential candidates to explore fit and inspire them to join
Re-designing the website, optimizing for drawing in talent and communicating our research to various stakeholders
Fix problems as you see them – spend maybe 20% of your time doing various special projects
This is a full-time role. We expect staff to work on-site. Our office is in downtown Berkeley, thirteen seconds from the nearest BART stop. Compensation depends on experience, but will likely be $120k – $140k/year. We offer catered lunches and dinners, and cover PPO health, dental, and vision insurance. We will consider international applicants who need visas.

Redwood Research is a research organization with the mission of aligning superhuman AI. In addition to our primary work of applied AI alignment research, Redwood hosts and operates Constellation, a shared office space we created to foster knowledge-sharing and collaboration between longtermist organizations. People from the following organizations often work from the space: Paul Christiano’s Alignment Research Center, MIRI, and Open Philanthropy.
