Be a part of the City of Salem Public Works Utility Customer Care Team!
Our Utility Customer Care Team is looking for a dedicated, collaborative, and skilled problem solver to be part of the Public Works Department. Public Works plans, constructs, and maintains the City’s infrastructure including roadways and lanes, parks and recreation activities, and water, stormwater, and wastewater utility services. The Utility Customer Care Team provides customer care and support for over 57,000 community-wide customer accounts on the phone, in person, and in writing as well as assists in maintaining the City’s utility infrastructure.
We need an enthusiastic individual who can listen to customer issues and provide guidance and solutions. This position will interact with customers over the phone (in a call center environment), in person, and in writing. The Utility Account Specialist is critical to the daily functions of utility billing operations by reviewing billing data, performing simple to complex financial adjustments, generating utility bills and notices, processing financial transactions, maintaining the integrity of customer-related information, and evaluating City assets by requesting inspections and investigations as well as resolving customer utility related issues.
