1. Provide Network Operational Support:
– Process requests for network connection changes:
– Disable LAN switch and router port security as requested by other IT staff.
– Review change requests, validate information provided on requests, and lead
efforts to resolve erroneous information.
– Update network connection database information.
– Update LAN switch and router port security and/or DHCP configuration settings.
– Communicate LAN switch interface vlan changes to network design lead.
– Disseminate communications for completed change requests.
– Monitor network availability systems and act on device outage alarms/notifications:
– Contact sites to verify power.
– Lead troubleshooting efforts to verify LAN switch, router, and firewall
functionality.
– Process temporary LAN switch and router configuration changes as needed to
troubleshoot device failures.
– Configure replacement LAN switches, routers, and firewalls and lead efforts to
replace failed equipment which may include personally delivering and replacing
equipment or shipping equipment and coordinating replacement activities with
field site personnel.
– Process, monitor, and escalate telecommunication provider trouble tickets for
WAN circuit failures.
– Disseminate service outage/restoration notifications to Agency personnel.
– Provide 2nd level technical support for end user network connection issues:
– Review LAN switch and router interface configuration settings and statistics
to isolate cause of network connection issues.
– Process temporary LAN switch changes as needed to troubleshoot network connection
issues.
– Review and update LAN switch and router configuration settings and as needed to
correct discrepancies between design documents and actual equipment configuration.
– Provide recommendation to other IT personnel on courses of action to resolve
network connection issues.
– Monitor Agency’s trouble ticket system and act on tickets referred to the Network
Section.
2. Maintain accurate and timely equipment inventory information to record equipment
location and variable configuration information.
3. Perform responsibilities associated with Agency projects and work efforts:
– Assist with Cisco EOL equipment refresh (requires limited travel to DOC/PBPP facilities)
– Assist with Cisco wireless deployments.
4. Perform other work as assigned:
– Process equipment surplus:
– Erase configuration information and licensed software from equipment targeted for
surplus.
– Prepare equipment surplus list and forward through chain of command for approval.
– Coordinate equipment retrieval with DGS.
– Process documentation and inventory changes for surplus equipment.
– Perform work on other special projects as required.
