Big Dreams Transport, LTD is looking for an experienced dispatcher to join our team. As a dispatcher, you will be expected to ensure daily operations run smoothly by coordinating with customers, providing precise logistics for drivers to follow on their trips, and coordinating delivery times. Dispatchers are the main point of contacts for drivers and customers.
The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed, in a fast-paced environment. You must be able to multitask, and be able to think outside the box, to meet daily customer requirements.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Scheduling and dispatching drivers, vehicles, or equipment to appropriate locations according to predetermined schedules, customer requests or immediate needs.
Receive incoming telephone calls from customers and drivers to arrange transportation services
Provide drivers information needed for delivery success
Provide communication to customers should any issues/delays arise
Speaking with supervisors or customers to resolve issues, requests for services or equipment
Monitor driver locations, hours of service, to provide timely location updates for customers along with planning for the weekly schedule
Communicate with Shop department on equipment needs/repairs
Enter data in the computer system and maintain records of calls, activities, and other pertinent information
Maintain records of deliveries made by the company. This will include proper paperwork i.e., complete bill of ladings, proof of deliveries, etc.
Ensure that drivers comply with company policies and procedures
Reports any/all accidents or incidents involving the company vehicle, including unsafe driving practices to management
Requirements/Qualifications:
Proven experience as a dispatcher
Knowledge in the Alaska Trucking Industry
Knowledge in DOT and FMCSA regulations
Knowledge in equipment, trucks and trailers
Be flexible with working outside business hours; this includes necessary communication with other personnel regarding any operations related issues. This also includes necessary communication with customers on delays/issues
Active listener with excellent communication skills
Sound judgment and critical thinking
Outstanding multitasking abilities
Excellent computer skills
Salary: Depending on Experience
