This position is responsible for opening and distributing mail, processing payroll and expense accounts, coding and processing project/program related invoice payments, and assists district supervisor with routine administrative tasks. The Assistant will answer phones and handle various inquiries from the public or internal customers. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing technical assistance, including program installation on computers, troubleshooting, and testing/fixing computer problems. The position may assist with upgrades of various applications and establishment of user environments, directories, and security. The position will also train new users and monitor data entered into the Maintenance Assets Tracking System (VTMATS), verifying information entered is accurate.

Environmental Factors
Duties are normally performed in a standard office setting with occasional field trips to district garages to provide basic computer training, support users, and perform routine maintenance work on computers. Considerable interaction with co-workers and the general public is anticipated. Some pressure from deadlines may occur.
Minimum Qualifications
High school or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Clerical or secretarial experience.
