Reporting Relationship
The HR Generalist reports to the Human Resources Director and has no direct reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Included, but not limited to:
Administratively supports all assigned human resources tasks adhering to the establishment and implementation of human resource policies and procedures.
Audit and maintain employee files to ensure compliance with all state, federal, and company human resources regulatory requirements.
Coordinates and assist with HR projects and duties inside the HR department and maintains detailed records.
Communicates with HR manager regarding assigned projects and periodically prepare progress reports.
Responsible for all activities necessary to process multi-state, multi-company payroll, including maintaining related records, tax filing, voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, prepares GL upload for Accounting, adds new states and establishes UI accounts, documents and updates procedures, and provides special reports for management.
Administers work comp program receiving employee reports of injury, ensuring correct forms are processed by supervisors/witnesses, arranges medical assistance, works with work comp provider to manage and close claim.
Runs annual benefits cost report for W-2s and ensure ACA reporting is correct for timely annual IRS 1094-C and 1095-C forms.
Maintains paid time off (PTO) and paid sick leave (PSL) tracking.
Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; assists in preparation and maintenance employee handbook(s) and policies and procedures manuals.
Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
Administers and monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
Reviews benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees as needed.
Ensures vendor invoices are allocated appropriately and works with accounting as needed.
Maintains compliance with all federal and state regulations and guidelines and files reports: annual EEO-1, OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 forms.
Administers and tracks compliance training (sexual harassment, ethics, HIPPA) and updates employees’ records.
Maintains uniform inventory and orders nametag and supplies as needed.
Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars. Maintains company organization charts and employee directory.
Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
Maintains confidentiality of all employee information and files.
Manages Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from database.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
To perform the Human Resources Generalist job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. These requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Business, Human Resources or Organizational Development.
Two to four years with progressive HR experience.
Must be able to effectively communicate and have excellent customer service skills.
Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
Must be familiar with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience with PayCor payroll, Workforce Now, or other HRIS, HRMS required.
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
