Lewis University is seeking an Academic Program Director for the new Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. This opportunity will
allow the successful candidate to design, develop, and implement this program that will be housed on the Romeoville campus. The Program
Director (PD) will report to the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Chair and will work with the Dean of the College of
Nursing and Health Sciences to achieve these goals. The PD will provide leadership in managing, planning, and implementing
the DPT program in support of the College and/or Departmental goals in order to assure compliance with programmatic accreditation
and/or licensure, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes to meet placement expectations. The PD will be involved in curriculum
development and coordination, shaping the clinical practice experiences, setting and promoting the program’s research initiatives, and
recruiting and retaining faculty. S/he will participate in, determine teaching assignments using a blended instructional approach combining
face-to-face instruction with on-line instruction (as applicable), selection of faculty, and selection/coordination of program-specific
instructional spaces. The PD will provide professional leadership and support, serving as a mentor and facilitator
for DPT faculty; and cultivate an environment that fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility. Additional duties
include the day-to-day management of the program’s activities, providing faculty specific teaching assignments, assisting faculty with
setting goals, leading and supporting program research efforts, supervising program staff, and preparing and administering program budgets
and resources. The preferred candidate will be student-centered with excellent interpersonal skills and seeking a leadership opportunity to
direct the efforts of a collegial faculty.
