About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer to be part of the Chief Technology Office (CTO) Platform Services team. Enterprise Pipeline (EPL) Platform Services team has key responsibilities for the Enterprise Pipeline across all applications in the Wells Fargo Enterprise. Our strategy focuses on building a fully automated (build, deploy, and test), end-to-end pipeline that includes a community driven inner source model, establishes self-service onboarding capabilities, and integrates software development lifecycle and segregation of duties controls. This Principal Engineer within EPL Platform services team will work across the EPL Product Owners, Engineering and applications teams to identify and implement solutions that advance our strategy. As a key engineering leader across EPL team, they will also collaborate with Wells Fargo Technology teams that use the EPL and key stakeholders to assess product gaps and ensure identification and delivery of product offerings that achieve desired business value and key outcomes and enable continued adoption of the EPL. With expertise in site reliability engineering, they will analyze the EPL and own and implement appropriate practices and solutions to continuously improve the reliability of the EPL.
In this role, you will:
Lead by example – focus on key aspects of SRE like Observability, Automation, Reliability, Resiliency, Scalability, Configuration Management & Actionable, Data Driven insights.
Act as a key transformation agent to help the team learn and develop SRE capabilities and advance the team through a defined SRE maturity model.
Attract, recruit, hire, and build top performing teams. Cultivate an engaged, diverse, inclusive and transparent culture
Ensure adherence to the Platform Architecture and meeting non-functional requirements for Enterprise Pipeline Products and Services.
Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture.
Participate in the creation and implementation of a technology framework for DevSecOps and CI/CD and providing strong technical expertise to application development teams, operations & site reliability teams, and senior technology management.
Responsible for being a technical expert, innovator, and strategic thought leader within the DevSecOps and CI/CD pipeline technology engineering discipline.
Translates advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions for the EPL.
Acts as an expert in the development of compliant target architectures following a practical and achievable approach.
Maintains knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations and/or provide a competitive advantage to the organization.
Develops standards and best practices and for engineering complex, large-scale technology solutions to address highly complex and typically cross-organizational issues, while maintaining broad knowledge of other technology engineering disciplines and partnering with other key experts.
Maintains knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations and/or provide a competitive advantage to the organization.
May represent Wells Fargo to external industry groups, influencing industry standards. Provides expert counsel to senior technology leadership and advises and mentors others with the goal of knowledge transfer.
Be the escalation point for teams facing extremely complex technical challenges.
Ability to provide executive level updates for complex platform solutions Effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders across the enterprise, at all levels of the organization.
Lead team technically, provide coaching and development, drive architecture/design reviews focused on business requirements.
Act as the EPL product champion within the organization with clear in-depth technical understanding of all features, functionality, and industry trends.
Evaluate new products to get key outcomes where necessary, as well as re-evaluate new ways of using existing capabilities.
Partner with technical writers and other communication leads to develop content for demos, trainings, and other presentations.
Attend key industry conferences combined continuous research of the latest modern tools, technologies, and trends.
Required Qualifications, US:
7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
3+ years of experience in two or more of the following tenets – Observability, Automation, Reliability, Resiliency, Scalability, Configuration Management & Actionable, Data Driven insights.
5+ years of experience in application & data architecture and solution design 3+ years of experience with secure DevOps and deployment automation to cloud environments.
5+ years of experience in application monitoring, performance management, analysis and troubleshooting skills.
5+ years of experience with standard industry standard performance tools and process.
3+ years of SRE experience in developing automated solutions for operational aspects in an organization.
2+ years of experience with Cloud technologies/Kubernetes/Containers
Desired Qualifications:
A master’s degree or higher in computer science or finance
5+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure Public Cloud/Google Cloud Platform
5+ years’ experience in developing high quality products involving definition and tracking of non-functional requirements for performance, resiliency, monitoring/observability, configuration management and error handling.
5+ years of experience in building Observability solutions to understand the application and infrastructure behaviors, unknown events.
5+ years of experience in creating and maintaining documentation for monitoring requirements.
5+ years of experience in leveraging monitoring tools to diagnose and troubleshoot infrastructure problems
3+ years of experience working with GitHub Actions/GitLabs/Harness /Jenkins/UCD/SonarQube/Blackduck/Artifactory/CheckMarx.
3+ years of experience with Application performance, monitoring and optimization using tools such Blaze meter, JMeter, Splunk and AppDynamics, Netcool, SiteScope, Elastic and Grafana
2+ years of experience with database technologies: Basic SQL, Cassandra DB, Oracle, Postgres SQL
2+ years’ experience with Data Services platforms: Bigdata, Datalake, Hadoop, Spark.
Job Expectations:
Ability to work additional hours as needed.
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Pay Range
$144,400.00 – $300,000.00
