Job Description Summary:
The OSMP Volunteer Crew Lead role provides support and leadership to implement Volunteer Services goals in accordance with the City Charter for Open Space purposes and to implement the department’s strategic plan. Volunteer Crew Leads are responsible for field and project management, skills development, training implementation, administrative duties, and logistical support of their contract crews as well as one-day volunteer projects (ODVP).
The Volunteer Services Crew Lead is expected to lead, support, build relationships, and coordinate with twelve OSMP workgroups. Crew Leads are expected to learn and understand the roles and services each workgroup provides. Another key responsibility is sharing and teaching safety to contracted partnerships and volunteers under minimal supervision. This position works with the Volunteerism and Service-Learning Program Manager for Groups on OSMP project initiatives and performs other duties as required for the Volunteer, Service Learning, and Partnerships (VSLP) workgroup. This position requires the ability to work hiking on and off trail for up to 10 hours in the field per day, carrying a backpack and hand tools, as well as working outside in inclement weather and in mountainous terrain.
This role oversees and supports contractors and volunteers who work to advance community connection, education and inclusion as part of city of Boulder and OSMP goals.
