The Assistant teacher will be responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment and for assisting the lead teacher with classroom instruction, planning and implementing the curriculum.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Foster relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Assist in implementing curriculum activities and lesson plans that promote children’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual development
- Encourage children to grown in their independence
- Supervise children
- Assist the lead teacher
- Provide hygiene care for children (diapers, potty training, etc.)
Qualifications and Skills
- 18 years or older with a minimum of a high school diploma – CDA or Associate Degree preferred (scholarships for CDA are available through our program for qualifying teachers)
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently using proper grammar
- Must be able to pass a background check, including FBI fingerprints
- Maintain 24 hours of training each year
- Must be adaptable and flexible
- Must be calm, confident and have positive demeanor
- Must be able to safely handle and lift children up to 40 pounds from floor to waist
- Must be able to crouch to eye level
