Job Summary
Performs tasks as delegated and indicated on the care plan for Home Health client/family during a specified work period. The Aide will understand the basic elements of body functioning. Understands the physical and emotional changes including those which occur in the death and dying process. Knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Must have good interpersonal skills, be courteous and caring. Must know medical terminology, organizational policies and procedures. Requires ability to do detailed work correctly, function under and handle stress. Must be able to work with growth and development needs of all client and patient population.
12 hours continuing education required annually. Satisfactorily completes a written competency test and performance test. Satisfactorily completes yearly competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credit for each year.
Qualifications
High school graduate or high school equivalency diploma preferred. State approved nursing assistant course of at least 75 hours classroom and 15 hours HHA training, or satisfactory competency evaluation.
One year nursing assistant experience preferred.
Nursing assistant certificate required with additional home health aide training preferred. Valid driver’s license required.
