The team is responsible for proactively identifying potential areas of exposure within the company and provides advice to senior management and stakeholders. The department ensures that an objective review is taken of allegations. The Trust & Investigations team takes pride in ensuring employees who raise concerns feel their concerns were treated seriously, investigated objectively and concluded fairly.The Investigator is responsible for reviewing complaints, and planning, conducting and communicating results of investigations into alleged misconduct. This is a critical role for the business.The role of the Investigator is to be a neutral fact finder that conducts investigations in a thoughtful, thorough, and objective manner. At the conclusion of the investigation, the Investigator completes written reports and communicates outcomes with critical stakeholders and in other forums when corrective action may be under review. Individuals in this role manage in-depth and complex investigations and work on analysis projects with limited supervision from initial request to presenting findings and responding to data requests, ensuring timely completion.Senior Investigators may support multiple regions, multiple lines of business and/or department heads.This position may be performed remotely anywhere within the United States except the State of Colorado. Eastern Time Zone Preferred)**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**Provides direction to less experienced employees. Conducts formal intake, analyzes the allegation(s), develops an investigation plan and conducts the investigation.Gathers, processes, and maintains evidence for [Sr] Specialists to document and load for historical reference.Completes written reports and communicates appropriate summaries of investigation outcomes to relevant parties.Duties include interviewing complainant(s), witness(es), and subject(s); and consulting with appropriate subject matter experts (SMEs).Maintains accurate and thorough intake, interview notes, and documentation of all investigation action(s), file(s) and record(s) in the CBRE’s electronic case management system(s) and in accordance with the policy and investigation procedures.Proactively engages with cross-functional partners (e.g. Compliance & Ethics, People/HR Business Partners, Fraud, Corporate Security, etc.) and key stakeholders across the enterprise to complete investigations.Articulates and defends the findings and provides recommendations and remedial measures to leadership at the end of the investigatory process.Advises on corrective and preventative measures based on root cause analyses from investigations, such as risk[1]based business enhancements, mitigation strategies, training and disciplinary action.Prepares presentations for and presents findings/recommendations to Executive Leadership.Shares external learnings and emerging regulatory changes back to the team to incorporate and update internal processes and documents.Researches, interprets, and applies investigation procedures, internal policies and localized laws.Maintains and enhances the operations, procedures, processes, and internal practical guidance governing investigations in line with applicable laws and best practices.Ensures consistent use of best practices and a high standard of professionalism and independence.Develops and facilitates training to CBRE community and other internal and external delivery on topics related to employee relations, ethics, policies, and investigative processes.Provides training/guidance to business leaders and other stakeholders on investigation procedures, internal policies, and risk management/intervention strategies.As a member of the broader Legal team, Investigations may also participate in other special projects and assignments (e.g. deliver training, develop process and governance, policy development, serves as Trust & Investigations advisor/liaison, etc.).Performs other duties as assigned.**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May lead project teams and/or plan and supervise assignments of lower level employees.**QUALIFICATIONS**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.**EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE**Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent from four-year college or university in Legal Studies, Business, Human Resources Management, Employment Law or related degree with a minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience (equates to at least 8 to 12 years hands on experience). *equivalent work experience = 2 years’ experience for every year of higher-level education.Requires a minimum of 5 years of professional level experience within employee relations, compliance, HR, accounting, or legal experience conducting investigations and/or grievance procedures (informal and formal) in a large complex organization.Highly prefer 5 to 7 years of HR, Legal or Ethics and Compliance experience with emphasis on internal investigations, white collar litigation, and/or ethics and compliance. Experience with leading high risk and complex employee relations matters required.**CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES**HR (e.g. SHRM-CP, PHR) or Compliance (e.g. CCEP) certifications preferred.**COMMUNICATION SKILLS**Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style.Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.**FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE**Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.**REASONING ABILITY**Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.**OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES**Establishes trust and maintains confidentiality. Works effectively with internal and external clients and promotes the reputation and integrity of the Legal organization. Ability to influence and adapt style to consult with all levels of employee and management.Ability to perform deep investigations on complex, sensitive escalations for numerous internal stakeholders. Must have a calm demeanor and ability the ability to manage multiple projects at once. Prioritizes multiple, ongoing initiatives and efficiently re-prioritizes such responsibilities, as may be required in a changing business environment. Understanding of how businesses operate (both internal and external) and results-oriented with the ability to identify areas that may be presenting risk to customers or the company. Comfortable making difficult decisions or recommendations in relation to case investigations. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, including an ability to deliver crisp, clear and concise executive presentations. Demonstrates emotional intelligence to effectively impact the organizational dynamics across business lines.
