ABOUT US:
The Consumer Research team within 84.51° uncovers the “why” that complements the deep behavioral understanding 84.51° uniquely delivers. Our focus is uncovering the “Why,” integrating it with the “What,” and turning these insights into human stories and business recommendations that compel actions to be taken that delight our customers in ways no other retailer can. We strive to consistently bring this human understanding to the business and serve as a strategic partner to leaders at 84.51°, Kroger, and our clients. This role is the advanced analytics and technical expert on the Consumer Research team. The role is accountable for consulting and supporting the team on complex research methods and advanced analytics and for advancing the technical skills of the Consumer Research team. This role is also accountable for applying analytic skills and business acumen/experience to consult with stakeholders and clients on research methods and research results. And this role is also connected to the research and insights industry to ensure approaches are innovative, best in class and proven for driving business results/understanding. RESPONSIBILITIES: Build and lead the plan that ensures the CR team is technically strong and showing up as a function with industry leading technical expertise (research fundamentals, relevant methodologies, and relevant advanced analytics). Serve as an expert on research methodologies and advanced statistical analyses and be a consultant to the CR team, business teams, stakeholders and clients. Support and review individual project work, especially when work involves complex methods and advanced analytics and to support Team Leads to ensure delivery of quality research and facilitate professional development of individual researchers. Engage in project work when needed to support business questions on complex methods or advanced analyses. Coach and mentor consumer research talent by sharing industry and research knowledge, while constantly growing your own skills in new areas of consumer research. Understand and contribute advanced analytic knowledge to the development and maintenance of Consumer Research products, solutions and standards across the function and the right way to apply each in solving business/customer problems. Contribute to 84.51° and Consumer Research presence and visibility in the industry, through public-facing activities, such as publications and presentations, including leading Research on Research as needed to support these efforts. Actively engage with other Directors of Consumer Research to support the advancement of Consumer Research as a function, but also as a trusted partner for the business. Connect and engage internally to identify opportunities to enhance insights/methods/analyses using attitudinal and behavioral data. Serve as a passionate, vocal champion for customers across 84.51° and Kroger. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE: Proven history in conducting and applying quantitative analysis such as multivariate analysis, conjoint and discrete choice, regression analysis, segmentation and statistical significance testing to business problems and inspiring action from results. Experience developing and leading technical training to researchers with accountability for their success. Strong understanding of the research process and both qualitative and quantitative methods. Prior success mentoring and upskilling individuals, including effective professional development and career management. Strong communication and leadership skills, particularly around enrolling and influencing others. Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills with ability to balance big picture and tactical ideas. Ability to navigate a quickly evolving and at times, nebulous environment. Experience using data analytics software/tools (e.g. SPSS, R, Python, Sawtooth Software, SmartPLS) Comfortable experimenting and exploring cutting edge/innovative methodologies EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, ideally in business analytics, statistics, mathematics or similar field.
