The Shipping Logistics Specialist will receive all shipment requests for specialty R&D materials from start to finish, allowing client to ship R&D materials reliably, safely, and in compliance with all applicable regulations. This position will give time back to science by navigating customs requirements, coordinating the logistical setup of shipments with courier vendors, and reviewing documentation to prevent delays in shipment. The Shipping Logistics Specialist will perform shipment planning, book shipments with carriers, generate required shipment documentation, coordinate schedules, and perform related system transactions. The Logistics Specialist will perform PO issuance, shipment and order tracking, and package collections. The shipping specialist will be part of a global team that can be leveraged to resolve import roadblocks and act as a subject matter expert in local shipping regulations and best practices for importing and exporting goods into their country.

Job Responsibilities

• Consolidates all shipping responsibilities from Lab Ops, scientists, and various couriers into one central SPOC / SME
• Manage Third Party Oversight, Communication, Strategy, Payment
• Manage documentation
• Request HTS codes, assign Incoterms, assess if Dangerous Goods (or consultant) is needed, escalate the need for permits to global lead
• Track shipments, take requests from scientists & send them to the appropriate courier, collect packages & deliver to appropriate teams (by site)
• Work directly with vendors to schedule shipments, identify & escalate problems
• Manage imports & liaise with other country teammates for knowledge sharing & assistance
• Primary interface between science & vendor
• Build out documentation, best practices, and ways of working for streamlined efficiencies in Vx R&D Shipping

Skills & Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• 3+ years’ experience in international logistics operations
• Knowledge of external logistics environment
• Extensive knowledge of cross-border regulations, procedures, and associated customs documentation
• Experience in selecting and implementing audit criteria for import documentation
• Experience in Broker management
• License Management
• Customer facing / Stakeholder management
• Ability to drive improvements and performance by focusing on customer service levels and cost reduction
