There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Human Resources, Equal Opportunity Office. This position serves as the City’s Compliance Officer with responsibility specific to Titles I and II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as amended, applicable complaint handling and other duties relevant to compliance with federal and state laws dealing with discrimination/civil rights, as directed by the Equal Opportunity Officer. These other laws may include Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, and other civil rights laws.
Special Work Requirements: Work is performed in a variety of environments and under varying conditions dependent on the nature of the specific assignments. Confrontation with a variety of individuals often under adverse or hostile conditions involving sensitive and sometimes unpleasant matters. May have to enter hostile workplaces or other locations and may be subjected to verbal and physical confrontations by complainants, accused, witnesses and other individuals.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
(a) Four years of progressively responsible professional experience in researching and providing guidance to management officials or other decision makers on Federal, State, or local laws, rules, and regulations affecting organizational compliance with at least two years of experience at a senior level involving the most difficult and complex of Americans with Disability Act (ADA), as amended, or Disability-related issues. Relevant professional experience would include performing in-depth research, preparing clearly written reports and providing other relevant guidance, instruction or communication to upper level management officials within an organization;

(b) Four years of progressively responsible professional experience in developing, implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and monitoring organizational ADA or Disability-related programs to ensure compliance with various laws, rules, and regulations with at least two years of experience at a senior level involving the most difficult and complex program issues including reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating program effectiveness and directing the implementation of sound corrective measures.
The professional experience in developing, implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and monitoring organizational ADA or Disability-related programs experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration; local and State laws, rules and regulations applicable to the Americans with Disability Act, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and related knowledge affecting organizational compliance; methods and techniques for evaluating and analyzing facts, information and issues to resolve problems; report and letter writing; research and statistical methods and techniques; interviewing principles and techniques; various kinds of occupations and the sources of occupational information; and the principles, concepts and processes applicable to Equal Opportunity.
NON-QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE: Most work experience in a supervisory or managerial position includes responsibility for ADA or Disability-related functions. However, if the primary responsibility of the position is not concerned with ADA or Disability-related work, such experience is not considered qualifying.
Clerical or technical experience in a human resources management program involving work that is limited to the application of human resources management rules, regulations and procedures in support of the human resources management functions, is not qualifying.
Having the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as qualifying for the position. Your overall experience must have been of such scope, level and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
