What You’ll Do:
- Conducts appropriate evaluations, assesses home environment (as appropriate), identifies equipment needs relative to speech/language function.
- Identifies functional speech defects and establishes a plan of care to improve patient’s function.
- Administer diagnostic speech and language evaluations and some basic, informal audio logical assessment in accordance with the plan of care
- Recommends communication devices/aids as indicated.
- Prepare a report of each client’s diagnostic evaluation and make recommendations
- Advise, consult and teach appropriate procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and other agency staff
- Provide direct speech service to clients under a provider’s plan of care. Records and reports to the provider the client’s response to therapy
Qualifications:
- Possess certification of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech Language Hearing Association
- Licensed as a speech therapist in the state in which practicing
- At least one (1) year of acute care setting or equivalent experience
- Possess knowledge of principles and practices of speech therapy
- Complies and maintains current CPR certification.
- Ability to make home visits and provide nursing care in the home environment
- Must have reliable transportation, current driver’s license, and appropriate automobile insurance
