If this sounds like you, we invite you to apply for our new Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) position with our Treatment Services program. This is a Regular, Full-Time (1.0 FTE) position that offers the opportunity to participate in a learning collaborative with the University of Washington and be mentored by behavioral health subject matter experts.
This advanced professional classification has the primary role of diagnostician and treatment provider. The ARNP will assess a broad spectrum of human illnesses, abnormalities, and health maintenance problems to provide:
The ARNP must be patient-centered and use principles of trauma informed care in the delivery of health care. They will deliver care and education in collaboration with other health care team members, while following evidenced-base practice. The ARNP may contribute to the daily management and clinic operation. The ARNP will assure the delivery of quality health care and education to those seeking services. Instructs other nurses and paraprofessionals in the clinic area in diagnostic, counseling and referral techniques to ensure the quality of nursing care.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
The ARNP works independently with the support of clinic physicians and the Medical Director. The ARNP is responsible to perform physical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment functions. The ARNP may provide primary health care to clients on an independent basis. Nursing knowledge and ability to use independent judgment is at higher clinical levels, allowing them to function as an independent medical practitioner.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing science from an accredited School of Nursing AND Masters prepared Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner from a program that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
License/Certification Requirements
A valid Washington State license as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (A.R.N.P.) and an active Registered Nurses License to practice in Washington State. Must have or be eligible for prescriptive authority.

Salary: Salary ranges are listed on the job announcement and are based on the unique skills, education, and experience for the position. Appointments are typically made at the starting pay step and are reviewed annually.
Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance: The Department pays a significant portion of these premiums for employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and dependent children, with an FTE of .80 or greater. Employees with an FTE between .50 and .80 pay a pro-rated portion of their premiums. Medical, vision and dental coverage begins the first day of the month following date of hire.*
Life Insurance: The Department provides a term Life Insurance policy equal to the employee’s annual salary, up to a maximum of $50,000.* Affordable voluntary, spouse, and dependent life insurance is also available.
Long Term Disability Insurance (LTD): The Department provides a base LTD policy which provides 40% income replacement for participants who are unable to work due to illness or injury for greater than 180 days. Buy-Up LTD is available at group rates and provides 60% income replacement to participants who are unable to work due to illness or injury for greater than 90 days.
Retirement: Eligible employees participate in the Tacoma Employees’ Retirement System (TERS). TERS is a defined retirement benefit plan funded by both the employee and the Department. We also have a 457 Deferred Compensation retirement program available which allows individuals to set aside a portion of their income on a tax deferred basis.

*Temporary Employees (hired for greater than 3 months): The Department provides medical, dental, and vision benefits, $12,000 base life insurance effective the first of the month following 3 months of employment. **Paid vacation, sick leave and holiday leave accrual begin following 6 months of temporary employment.
