Advantage Media Hiring for Distribution and Supply Chain Manager at Charleston, SC Full Time

Forbes Books, a publisher of business, self-improvement, and professional development books has an exciting opportunity for a talented Book Sales & Distribution manager who will lead our publishing efforts to distribute and sell our print books, ebooks, and audiobooks. This position will directly report to the Chief Product Officer and can be remote or based in Charleston, SC.

You will be responsible for all distribution partnerships for physical books, ebooks, and audiobooks. This includes collaborating with the manufacturing team on print run estimates and inventory control. You will own the relationship with our three core distribution partners and will work with them on preselling into the retail. Your overarching responsibility is to own the three external distribution relationships and ensure our members (authors) see maximized sales of all product types in every way and low levels of returns of physical books.

This Role Will Have Several Direct Responsibilities

• This role will own the relationships with our three main partners in distribution: Ingram, Firebrand, & Findaway.
• Expanding our distribution and ensuring we have opportunities for COOP and other paid programs at major retailers is a core feature of this role.
• Sales of our titles into a myriad of markets, expanding our sales partnerships across all product types, all channels, and all appropriate geographies. Who sells our titles into the retail and under what terms will be a key responsibility.
• Major retailer relationships that will be eventually owned by this role will include all eBook vendors, all airport vendors, and Amazon.
• You will be one of the key stakeholders in the system producing our metadata (ONIX) for all our titles.
• Libraries and Licensees will be a shared responsibility with the CPO.

This Role Will Have Many Interdependencies

• Interdependencies include an everyday working relationship with the manufacturing team and the design and production teams to ensure the right printers and printing process is selected and secured for each project to maintain pub dates and cost parameters. Additionally, to implement and manage the DAM/DAD system.
• With the Sr. Director of Publishing Operations to ensure that the information in the Title Management System is accurate, up to date, and optimized for selling and discovery in the retail.
• With the Sr. Director of Book Promotions to ensure that each product has optimal marketing plans that are executed in coordination with the retail efforts. This will include the creation of optimized ONIX feeds for every product for maximum discovery and sales.

Your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Are

• Increase average annual revenue per Forbes imprint title by 25%, 10% for Advantage titles, per year, for the first three years.
• Reduce fees from inventory overage by maintaining less than 52 weeks of inventory demand per title on average.
• Increase Ebook and Audiobook sales by 20% per year, for the first three years.

Key Outcomes

• Within the first year successfully launch global print and POD distribution for all imprints.
• Work with the technology team to perfect the use of our project management platform for the needs of distribution so that anyone in teh business can see where each book sits in the distribution planning phase.
• By the end of 1 year create an automated reporting system for author sales.
