Full-Time Position

The wage range for this position is $65,000-$85,000 with consideration given to experience.

AE Design is seeking a qualified candidate to join our Denver team as an ICT/Telecommunications/Security Designer. Ideal candidates will have 2-5 years of experience and hold a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in electrical engineering, integrated communication technology (ICT), or a closely related discipline; or they will have comparable experience. Successful Candidates Will Have…

• The capability to apply information and communication technology (ICT) network structured cabling and telecommunications design principles to projects of all sizes and categories.
• Thorough knowledge of structured cabling and infrastructure design for commercial construction including professional copper/optical fiber cabling design, voice telephony, data networking, wireless access, and telecom grounding/bonding.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes, standards, and life-safety requirements pertaining to ITC design, as well as, knowledge of industry standards and best practices as defined in BICSI, IEEE, TIA/EIA, and NEC.
• Ability to take structure cabling design from start to finish; including initial scoping/discovery with Owner/end users, preparation of narrative work descriptions, completion of construction drawings (plans, diagrams, details, schedules), specific calculations, preparation of Division 27 specifications (CSI 3-part format), respond to contractor questions and perform site observations.
• A basic understanding of how to coordinate and produce drawings and specifications utilizing industry software applications including REVIT, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Suite.

Bonus

• Knowledge of designing Distributed Antenna Systems for cellular coverage and life safety/DAS

• Knowledge of Intercom design, MATV/CATV design, public address overhead paging, Emergency call systems, Nurse Call systems, and other similar systems
• Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Design Modeling and Validation Testing with experience using Ekahau software
• Knowledge of security system design including access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems

• BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) or similar
• Completion of BICSI ITC Design Fundamentals

• CompTIA Network+

• ASIS PSP Credential, ISC Certification a plus
• AVIXA CTS or CTS-D a bonus
• An interest in sustainable design
• An interest in creative solutions and integrated systems

How You’ll Spend Your Day

• Creating, developing, and documenting designs for information and communications technology (ICT) and physical security systems.

• Coordinating requirements with design team including owners, architects, in-house electrical/lighting designers, mechanical engineers, and audiovisual and security designers
• Perform construction administration and oversight through bidding and construction process
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Accompany technology staff in client meetings and project site visits to investigate field conditions, ascertain owner expectations, communicate design intent, and coordinate design/construction
• Assist in the development of work scheduling and project planning to meet all deadlines, internal and external
• Continue education through internal and external opportunities, including, but not limited to, industry events, manufacturer information sessions, and internal mentoring, to further your design knowledge and to pursue industry accreditations.
• Assists with technology-specific internal standards development
• Represent AE Design in a professional and friendly manner with other team members, owners, architects, vendors, technology managers, etc.

AE Design is a growing lighting design and electrical engineering firm that focuses on design-intensive projects throughout the United States, and internationally. The sizes of these projects vary from small design driven spaces to $100 mil. large campus facilities. Our project types include high-profile single-family custom residences, recreation centers, National Park Service work, retail environment, hospitality projects, animal clinics/hospitals, and commercial office buildings and their tenants to name a few.

Our offices are within the historic district of downtown Denver, in the heart of great eateries, across the street from Coors Field, a short walk or light rail ride to the Pepsi Center or Mile High Stadium. Our office suite is located within a 1900’s era building with exposed brick walls, views of the downtown skyline, and a comfortable and relaxed working environment. Our location allows us to walk to many of our meetings and be accessible to our clients, as well as utilize public transportation via the light rail or bus systems.
