Support the Company in diverse roles. This includes: coordination and preparation of statutory financial statements, claim payment reconciliation and posting, invoicing and collection, premium tax returns and other state filings, and financial statement preparation. The Statutory Accountant performs other duties as assigned.
#1: OBJECTIVE: Statutory Accounting
Percent of time: 40%
· Reconcile and post monthly entries. Analyze activity on a quarterly basis for financial statement preparation.
· Coordinate, prepare and file the quarterly and annual statutory financial statements for assigned entities.
· Reconcile and post adjusting entries for specified general ledger accounts for all entities.
· Resolve billing and collection problems.
· Assist with audits.
#2: OBJECTIVE: Premium Tax Returns and State Filings
Percent of time: 35%
· Responsible for timely and accurate preparation and filing of all premium, property tax returns and federal income tax return, with required forms and other filings required by each state, and the NAIC.
#3: OBJECTIVE: Prepare Financial Statements
Percent of time: 15%
· Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of financial statements. This would include any additional budget or tax support and preparation for each entity.
#4: OBJECTIVE: Miscellaneous
Percent of time: 10%
· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.
· 5 years working knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles and extensive knowledge of appropriate accounting practices.
· Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications and word processing applications.
· Ability to make mathematical computations, highly attentive to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to work independently with little direction, but also work with others in a variety of situations.
· Ability to establish priorities and monitor deadlines.
· Exhibit behavior which emphasizes quality, integrity and teamwork.
· Easy going, cooperative disposition.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Flexible schedules are at the discretion of the supervisor. Longer hours during the week and occasional weekend time may be required
