Position Summary:
An Airbus Retrofit Solutions Engineer (RSE) functions as a cabin architect for the modification of large transport category aircraft. This position will require the candidate to apply their knowledge of aircraft cabin design, and associated cabin interfaces, to the development of engineering solutions for customer aircraft. The RSE, will function as part of the global team providing internal engineering leadership and external liaison with similar engineering functions. *This position will be located in either Mobile, Alabama or Atlanta, Georgia.
Primary Responsibilities:
Project Management
Provide strong liaison with other engineering and non-engineering departments both internally, externally and internationally.
Responsible for defining aircraft cabin modifications per project plan.
Anticipate risks and opportunities associated with the aircraft modification requirements and recommend mitigations as necessary.
Manage an existing base of engineering subcontractors to time and cost targets.
Mentor less experienced team members
Engineering
Translate Airline Customer requirements into an estimate of time and cost (non-recurring engineering) in support of the Company bid process.
Apply aircraft cabin architecture knowledge to the development of cabin retrofit solutions. Evaluate customer requirements as compared to existing production cabin engineering solutions.
Lead the development of the engineering solution of Customer Requirement to Service Bulletin production.
Liaise with the Airline Customer to develop the engineering solution; manage the engineering aspects of the customer relationship.
Develop the Bill of Material and modification kit requirements needed to support the retrofit design.
Certification
Develop the aircraft certification plan.
Monitor the development of certification data..
Aircraft Modification Support
Support onsite modification team as required including direct onsite support at customer or MRO facility.
Answer/resolve queries regarding work instruction and kit delivery.
Experience / Skills / Training:
Minimum of 6 to 13+ years in aerospace engineering and/or aircraft cabin modification experience.
Strong project or program engineering experience.
Ability to provide technical leadership in a complex, global organization.
Ability to write reports, technical memorandums, interface agreements, work statements and requirements documents using technical English.
Ability to effectively present information to internal and external customers.
Experience with Python or other programming language preferred
Education:
BS degree in engineering or related field
Master’s degree preferred
Communication Skills:
Must understand, read and write proficiently in the English language to read and understand appropriate manuals, schematics, and technical information to adequately perform duties.
Travel Required:
<20% Domestic and International

Communication on a regular basis with both internal and external parties.
Physical Requirements:
