Construction Specialist – Insurance Risk Management

Exciting opportunity exists for the right person with experience in managing commercial construction safety or construction risk management. Your experience as a construction project manager, safety officer, insurance construction specialist or safety specialist is valuable in our Builder’s Risk Management Division.

As an independent contractor for Alexander & Schmidt, you will conduct onsite inspections of commercial properties being built or renovated to determine the likelihood of a property loss due to hazards, unsafe practices or other situations. You will earn upwards of $55 per hour depending on experience.

Visit the site during the day and then write the report based on your findings. Your construction experience combined with our field instructions on key practices will assist insurance companies in managing the insurance they provide on building construction projects. Travel is limited to the Seattle metro area. Extended travel opportunities are available.

At Alexander & Schmidt, a Construction Specialist-Risk management performs on-site inspections of commercial construction sites and prepares reports for insurance underwriting purposes. Insurance companies use the reports to properly insure commercial construction sites under Builder’s Risk policies.

Required Skills

• A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience as a construction project manager, safety officer, insurance construction specialist or safety specialist or experience with a commercial insurance carrier providing loss control surveys for Builder’s Risk

• Solid communication skills—including exceptional writing ability, organizational skills, and computer skills

• Excellent time management skills

• Travel within a reasonable territory, 60 mile radius

• Professional certifications CSP, CCM, CSM, CSMC, CSD are preferred, but not required

• Uploading completed reports, photos and diagrams through a special website or complete reports on web based systems

High-quality, accurate loss control surveys guide the underwriter in the selection of profitable business, and assist the insured in controlling losses through the demonstrated value of the loss control services provided.
