Job Profile Summary: Summary Promotes health and safety to all health care workers by facilitating an Employee Occupational Health program to include disease detection, prevention and treatment and follow-up on illnesses and injuries. Conducts health screenings and promotes a safe work environment. Serves as a case manager. Partners with internal customers to provide education and promote participation in wellness and prevention programs.

Job Requirements

• Associate’s or Vocational degree in Nursing required or
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred
• Master’s degree in Public Health (Occupational Health) preferred
• 2 to 5 years experience in nursing required
• 2 to 5 years experience in occupational health nursing, case management, nurse triage, ED, ICU or Orthopedic preferred
• Licensed Registered Nurse – MN Board of Nursing required if working in the state of MN upon hire or
• Licensed Registered Nurse – WI Dept of Safety & Professional Services required if working in the state of WI upon hire and
• BLS Tier 1 – Basic Life Support – Multisource required American Heart Association or Allina Health upon hire
• Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) preferred or
• Certified Occupational Health Nurse – Specialist (COHN-S) preferred

Principle Responsibilities

• Assesses, triages and provides first aid treatment for injury/illness, refers for care and return to work following Employee Occupation Health (EOH) guidelines.
  • Serves as primary case manager and liaison for worker requiring services from workers compensation, job accommodation or other types of illness/disability sources.
  • Maintains records and submits claims.
  • Consults with provider and others as needed.
  • Reviews and manages requests.
  • Triages and assesses health care worker’s medical status in a remote manner.
  • Provides education to employees and managers on employee health topics, including but not limited to: Infection Control, Employee Safety and Personal Protective Equipment as it relates to a pandemic or medical outbreak event.
  • Documents assessment and implementation of plan of care per established policies and procedures.

• Promotes and educates.
  • Completes health screen assessments.
  • Coordinates and manages employee wellness and prevention programs.
  • Immunization administration.
  • Promotes a safety culture.
• Manages work related exposures or personal infectious diseases in collaboration with health care worker and internal/external sources such as infection prevention and Minnesota Department of Health.
• Manages and participates in programs to support the organization. Participates on committees and consults with internal and external resources to meet objectives.
  • Provides guidance to Allina Health to meet standards of regulatory bodies including Minnesota Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Joint Commission, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), local and state Public Health, Department of Labor and equivalents.
  • Organizes and assists with regulatory medical surveillance programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
