Position Summary:

This position is responsible for implementing the chapter’s volunteer-powered program delivery strategy and engaging with organizations to encourage community mobilization. The position goal is to significantly expand the reach of Alzheimer’s Association Community Programs. Measurable outcomes are increased volunteer engagement and expansion of community-based programs with emphasis on reaching diverse, underserved and under-represented populations.

Travel to the assigned territory is expected (30%-40% of time). Assigned territory for this role is the 38-county area around St. Louis and extending south to the Bootheel. Travel throughout the chapter 96-county territory may be required.

Responsibilities:

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Increase participation of Common Core Programs with special attention to new audiences and increasing participation among populations that typically have low involvement.
• Collaborate with programs team to create sustainable processes, procedures and best practice guidelines
• Recruit, train and engage Alzheimer’s Association program volunteers including Community Educators, Support Group Facilitators, Outreach Representatives, and Early Stage programs, to assure expansion of quality volunteer-delivered programs throughout the service area and increased referrals to 24/7 Helpline.
• Maintain data in the chapter’s volunteer and constituent databases including but not limited to, program, attendance and volunteer related information.
• Collaborate with programs team to improve marketing of community programs and alignment of all service lines offered through Care and Support
• Audits the volunteer database and maintains the system for accuracy.
• Create opportunities for community education program implementation and volunteer training through local relationships.
• Build referral partnerships with social service agencies and service providers to identify prospective volunteers.
• Cultivate and recruit supporters for chapter fundraising events like Walk to End Alzheimer’s and Longest Day. Generate leads for Development team.
• Generate human interest leads for Marketing and Communications team.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Social Work, Marketing & Communications, or related field.
• Experience: 2 year of program development /volunteer management or equivalent experience
• History of health education, community program development, strong public speaking skills and an understanding of adult learning principles strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word & Excel) and Google; ability to learn service user software
• While most such travel is the same day, occasional overnight travel or air travel may be required. Must have a valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, good driving record and proof of automobile insurance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated success managing volunteer-led community education programs with experience in recruitment, training, engagement, supervision and evaluation of volunteers.
• Demonstrated success working with diverse populations, volunteers, staff, and external contacts to build and maintain successful teams.
• Excellent ability to communicate in person, print, and electronically to variable audiences.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
• Ability to implement strategic plans and make programmatic recommendations to Chapter leadership.
• High level of integrity, diplomacy and initiative
