DEPARTMENT: Communications
POSITION OBJECTIVE: Ensure consistency and design excellence in AFBF’s creative products (across departments, events and publications) as leader of the creative services team.
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Communications
LOCATION: Washington, DC
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conceptualize ideas for AFBF and AFBFA clients and verify that AFBF’s needs/deadlines are being met.
• Lead the creative team from concept to completion of graphic projects and photo assignments.
• Manage quality of printed, digital and photo/visual materials consistent with industry standards and trends.
• Track creative services projects to meet established goals and budgets.
• Assist with distribution and promotion of materials produced for state Farm Bureaus.
• Design graphics, logos and publications that enhance and support the organization’s brand, mission and goals.
• Negotiate competitive bids for external production of print, graphic design and photo/visual material.
• Oversee printing of major publications, AFBF photo services, and designs for annual convention.
• Supervise Senior Graphic Designer and external creative services vendors.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Work closely with AFBF and state Farm Bureau staff, building strong relationships to maintain a reputation of excellence in creative design. Work closely with external vendors as necessary to deliver high quality products. Work closely with VP, Communications to help forecast and maintain creative services budget. Work closely with legal team to ensure the FB mark adheres to brand control.
EDUCATION OR TRAINING REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Minimum 7 years of experience leading a creative team
• Strong project management skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience managing graphic designers and working with external vendors
• Proficient in industry standard software and current design trends
• Experience working in Macintosh environment using Adobe Creative Suite software
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/SKILLS:
• Experience with trade associations or non-profits
• Knowledge of agriculture
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Some travel required
