The Billing Assistant/Insurance Collector is responsible for billing, coding and contacting insurance companies to negotiate denials and appeal claims that have been denied from office visits and clinical procedures.

Responsibilities include:

• Responsible for reviewing, correcting, and releasing eClinical Works charges
• Demonstrate strong understanding and utilization of clearinghouse claims tool and clearinghouse rejection queues
• Responsible for researching, correcting, and releasing accounts within Claim Edit Billing Work queue
• Demonstrate comprehension and implementation of claim appeal process
• Knowledge of insurance processes and Medicare rules and guidelines
• Identify insurance company or proper party (patient) to be billed including identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances
• Review assigned accounts within the billing platform Follow Up and Catch All WQs ensuring outstanding, pending, partially paid, and denied claims are paid in a timely manner
• Communicate with health care providers, patients, insurance claim representatives and other parties to clarify billing issues and facilitate timely payment
• Accurately file confidential correspondence and documentation
• Review, research, and process refund requests as needed
• Demonstrate knowledge of CPT, ICD 10 and procedural modifiers
• Consult with supervisor, team members and appropriate resources to solve billing and collection questions and issues
• Strictly comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in protecting patient privacy and federal and state regulations
• Additional job-related duties or projects as needed

The minimum qualifications required for this position include:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of one year of experience in a medical billing/coding role in the healthcare industry. Podiatry billing experience preferred
• Current Medical Billing or Coding Certification
• Previous experience with EClinical Works (ECW) strongly preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 – $24.00 per hour
