ABOUT THE POSITION
Provides support in all areas of the Human Resources department. Assumes ownership for the successful and compliant execution of the Employee Life Cycle.
Key Deliverables
Develop onboarding plans to educate new hires on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations
Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants
Provide support for employment related inquires
Monitor employee morale and company culture
Monitor and implement applicable federal and state requirements to ensure legal compliance
Key Activities & Responsibilities
Perform benefits administration to include the process of onboarding, annual open enrollment, assist in employee claims, resolve discrepancies with employees, payroll and/or benefits provider and communicate benefit information to employees
Coordinate the hiring process, including but not limited to, conducting pre-employment background, drug screening and reference checks, and issuing job confirmation letters and other internal communications
Work collaboratively with department managers and executive leadership to develop and implement specific employee programs, policies, processes, and systems
Conduct new hire orientation and provide new employees with a positive first impression of the organization, core values and organizational culture
Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
Maintain confidential employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, termination date and reason in various locations including the HRIS, and Excel. Partners with payroll for smooth transactions between HR and payroll systems
Actively support Astec’s core values, mission statement and vision statement.
Assume other special activities and responsibilities as directed
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field
Minimum of (2) years of Human resources experience
Knowledge of laws and regulations governing Human Resource functions
Proficiency with personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite software applications
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge/understanding of benefit administration
Ability to communicate effectively and reach a diverse, multigenerational workforce
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to change tasks as needed
Ability to communicate to get desired results
Excellent data entry/proofreading skills
Ability to exercise a high level of independent judgement on a customary and regular basis

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment.
