Description:
This position will include, but will not be limited to running the daily functions of the Human Resource department. This role will plan, lead direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, and activities of the HR department while a typical week in the office is a 40 hour work week, Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm.
MAY HAVE TO TRAVEL 2-2.5 HOURS ONCE A QUARTER TO TRAVERSE CITY
Duties/Responsibilities
– Assist in parts of new hire orientations
– Oversee first meeting after hired
– Coordinate employee orientation
– Conduct training with key personnel in office
– Enroll new employee in Payroll and Benefits (insurance, vacation, retirement
– Oversee separation/ termination forms and procedures
– Gather and support information for employee reviews
– Manage and organize employee folders
– Assist with distribution of uniforms/ safety glasses/ and safety equipment
– Create and distribute picture/ lock out tag
– Add/delete card access as it relates to employees
– Generating official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, salary slips and warning letters
– Maintaining physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits and attendance records
– Employee advocate – benefits, concerns, issues, etc. Work for the employees, not just the company
– Payroll:
– Handles week employee timecard entry and verification
– Manage vacation time and scheduling
– Run direct deposits and payroll checks
– Employee payroll tax deductions
– Track and maintain employee payroll deductions, MISDU, Uniforms, tools, etc.
– Insurance:
– Knowledge and understanding of current HighPoint Electric Insurance programs (Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Short Term Disability)
– Assist employees in understanding current insurance protocol
– Handles employee insurance enrollment
– Supports employee insurance record adding/ deleting changes
– Workmen’s compensations claims, audits and questions
– 401k/ Retirement options and work with hired administrative service for 401K
– Have a full understanding of retirement of retirement package offered by HighPoint Electric
– Employee retirement options
– Schooling:
– Enroll employees in apprentice school
– Monitor employee grads, course track and course completion
– Misc:
– Assist with answering phones
– Employee occasions – birthdays, new baby, funerals, etc.
– Other tasks/ projects as assigned, and time allows
