Senior Staff Accountant

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for the recording of specialized transactions in the general ledger (e.g. SBA loan sales, lease accounting, provision for loan losses, subordinated debentures, among others). In addition, the Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for setting up capitalized assets and maintaining the related sub-ledgers and the reconciliation of certain general ledger accounts. This position will work closely with the Accounting Director to ensure the integrity of the general ledger and will assist in the development of policies and procedures and act as a resource for other team members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Records specialized entries in the general ledger including but not limited to SBA loan sales, lease accounting, provision for loan losses, dividends, subordinated debt, certain accruals, and others as required.
· Creates the capitalized assets (Prepaid Expenses and Fixed Assets) in the sub-ledger and ensures that each one is expensed according to the Bank’s policy.
· Prepares certain regulatory reports, including the Qualified Public Depository report and the Financial Highlights disclosures for the board of director’s meetings.
· Acts as backup for the Staff Accountant II and the Accounting Director.
· Assists with maintaining the chart of accounts for the Bank and related companies.
· Assists the Accounting Director and CFO with internal and external audit requests.
· Fulfill responsibilities under the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering regulations. This may include identifying customers properly, initiating CTRs and SARs investigations as needed, utilizing OFAC records and maintaining appropriate records.
· Adhere to the Bank’s policies and procedures and all Federal and State laws and regulations.
· Performs any other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or experience commensurate with the position.
· The position requires for candidate to have three to five years of experience in Accounting or a related department.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITES
· General office environment that requires the extensive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
· Frequently required to sit / stand for extended periods of time, reach with arms and hands, stand, walk, stoop, talk and hear.
· May be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
