Lead Surgery Scheduler
Surgical Services
40 Hours Weekly, Full Time, Dayshift
Job Summary:
Must be able to coordinate staff and duties and maintain the daily operation of surgery scheduling. Assist in the training process for new and current employees. Coordinates lunches and/or breaks as needed. Coordinates with MD office and Business Manager or Director to scheduled difficult cases. Act as a leader and ensure proper protocol is followed. Maintains patient and employee privacy and confidentiality. Enforces, follows and supports all processes, policies and procedures and ensures all staff are updated and trained when changes occur.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual’s job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
1. Interviews, orients, trains and evaluates scheduling personnel.
2. Keeps Business Manager informed of services which are delayed due to back-ups in scheduling. Informs Business Manager of all activities, issues, or problems so that appropriate follow up can occur.
3. Responsible for motivating personnel and maintaining moral. Able to analyze and be proactive in solving problems or issues that prevent quality service.
4. Responsible for maintaining a good working relationship with personnel in other departments.
5. Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, safety environmental and infection control.
6. Maintains required records and reports as directed.
7. Attends in-services and other required meetings.
8. Able to perform scheduling/preregistration functions.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
A.Bachelors degree or related formal training preferred
B.Three to five years experience in medical field.
C.Minimum 6 months experience in management or access services related field (registration, pre-access, patient accounting, and financial services).
