Job Description:
RN PRN – Outpt Surgery Ctr PreOp/Phase II
Job Summary:
Possesses strong clinical knowledge and skills regarding the perioperative experience. Must have good organizational skills, multitask with frequent interruptions, flexible working hours, and positive attitude with good communication skills. Must be willing and capable of working both pre and post -op areas Must be committed to high quality patient care and accept the responsibility that accompanies working in a fast paced environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual’s job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
1. Completes and documents an initial patient assessment and performs ongoing assessment according to standards of care for pre and post op care of a patient having a surgical intervention.
2. Develops plan of care.
3. Provides care according to policy
4. Evaluates patient response to interventions.
5. Demonstrates proficiency in the nursing skills specific to Pre and Post op care
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
A.Active Kentucky License
B. BCLS/ACLS/PALS
C. Previous Preop or Postop experience preferred
D. Critical Care / Telemetry experience preferred
E. Be proficient in starting IVs
