Barnes & Noble Education is seeking a dedicated Payment Processing Accountant to join our dynamic team! As a Payment Processing Accountant you will be responsible for reconciling all gift card activity, Web Sales, and Digital activity on a daily and monthly basis.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Gift cards
- Reconcile daily SVS gift card activity between Sales Audit Application and SVS.
- Reconcile monthly SVS gift card activity between General Ledger and SVS.
- Reconcile weekly and monthly Starbucks gift card activity.
- Prepare monthly journal entries.
- Reconcile and prepare daily billing for financial gift cards.
- Reconcile and prepare weekly billing for non-financial gift cards.
- Alert Loss Prevention on any suspicious activity found when reconciling.
Web sales
- Verify daily all web sales are in Sales Audit Application and correct any errors.
- Reconcile daily web sales between Sales Audit Application and Accelerator.
- Provide monthly reconciliation of web sales between Sales Audit Application and Accelerator.
- Verify invoice file has been posted and if not accrue for the cost of sales monthly.
- Accrue monthly the processing fees for all digital
Digital
- Reconcile monthly all Digital sales to Loud cloud reporting verifying all sales processed have been correctly recorded
- Create weekly payment file to VST requesting approvals
- Reconcile payments to VST billing to posting of cost to GL
- Identify and reconcile transactions
Reporting
- Prepare quarterly web report detailing sales by division and tender.
- Prepare monthly VST billing file summary by Publisher for Academic team to review
- Prepare and distribute Starbucks reconciliations monthly to all stores
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- 2-3+ years related experience accounting, payment processing, and reconciliation experience
- An associates or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or related field is preferred, but not required
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (i.e VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables)
- Excellent organization skills, time management and task flexibility including the ability to multitask and change priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills

The hiring rate for this position is $20 – $22 / hour. The actual pay may vary based on a number of factors, including professional experience, hiring location, skills, competencies, and may fall outside of the range shown.
