ACCOUNTING ANALYST I (JOB ID: 1512)
Position Title: Accounting Analyst I Department/Location: Financial Services/Bismarck, ND

Position Purpose:
This position is responsible to analyze project documentation for capital projects and trackable work orders in order to determine the proper accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and its subsidiaries. This position establishes, monitors and reconciles capital projects and trackable work orders in the Activity Management system and compiles related reporting. This position is also responsible to unitize project costs once the capital assets are placed in service. This position serves as a back-up for other Capital Assets team members.
Qualifications:
To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have a basic understanding of transactions and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems at a level acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related discipline and two years of accounting related experience. Strong accounting, analytical, and problem solving skills; strong interpersonal skills; proficiency in personal computer operation and business application software; and the ability to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills are required.
Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires the ability to communicate and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines.
