The Head Start Program is a program of the United States Department of Health and Human Services that provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families. The program’s services and resources are designed to foster stable family relationships, enhance children’s physical and emotional well-being, and establish an environment to develop strong cognitive skills. The transition from preschool to elementary school imposes diverse developmental challenges that include requiring the children to engage successfully with their peers outside of the family network, adjust to the space of a classroom, and meet the expectations the school setting provides.

The Early Childhood Educator is responsible in planning, organizing and directing all aspects of classroom services, and the school readiness initiative for children between the ages of 0-5 year old this includes but is not limited to lesson plans and activities that are suited to the developmental level of each child, promoting their social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Education/Experience: CDA or Associates in Early Childhood Education with experience teaching children ages 0-5, and one year related experience and/or training.
Certificates and Licenses: State-awarded certificate to teach in a preschool program; CDA, AA or BA in Early Childhood Education
The starting hourly wage for this position is between $10.73 and $12.74
ELIGIBLE FOR RETENTION AND HIRING BONUSES
This position has the opportunity for a hiring bonus in the range of $500 to $1,250 depending on qualified education degree. Also, the position qualifies for a retention bonus in the range of $500 to $1,250.
