This position reports to the Director of Managed Services and IT. The Network Engineer will work in the company’s fast growing Managed Services area. We provide Managed Equipment to customers throughout the US and Canada and the Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the entire network of Managed Equipment and Services. Among the responsibilities will be to fully configure all equipment, join all activation calls for such equipment and services, and provide second level support to our repair department. The candidate must be highly comfortable with all aspects of IP routing and switching.
Job Requirements
Configure managed equipment for customers (routers, switches, firewalls, IP phones, SBCs, Wi-Fi APs, VeloCloud SD-WAN).
Take part in all managed equipment activation calls with carriers and customers to ensure the process is smooth and worry free.
Provide second level support to the repair department regarding all aspects of managed equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, IP phones, SBCs, Wi-Fi APs, VeloCloud SD-WAN) and data networking in general in a 24×7 environment.
Provide second level support to customers and the repair department with our PRTG monitoring platform.
Provide after-hours occasional support on a rotating basis.
Desired Qualifications
Engineering degree in Network Engineering or related field.
1 to 3 years of experience in engineering and configuring solutions that implement firewalls, routers, and switches in a geographically dispersed environment.
Must be able to configure Cisco routers and switches.
Proficient hands on experience and understanding of fundamental networking concepts and protocols such as: BGP, EIGRP, VLAN, TCP/IP, MPLS, STP, OSPF, HSRP, IP, SIP, sub-netting, and routing.
Comfortable with tcpdump and Wireshark tools for packet capture and analysis.
Good understanding of TCP/IP and the ability to follow a packet capture session between 2 endpoints regardless of what the application is.
Experience with network monitoring applications such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or Nagios.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
VoIP/SIP knowledge and experience would be a plus.
Cisco CCNA certification would be a plus.
