Substitute Teacher
Overview:
Beaumont School, founded in 1850, is the oldest school in the Cleveland Diocese and the oldest all-girls secondary school in greater Cleveland. An all-girls Catholic high school in the Ursuline tradition that educates women for life, leadership, and service, Beaumont is dedicated to a college preparatory and International Baccalaureate liberal arts education that is rooted in Jesus Christ and inspired by the example of Saint Angela Merici to serve others. Summary:
A substitute teacher is responsible for enabling each child to pursue her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of her regular teacher.
Reports to: Principal and Assistant Principal
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree, Valid Ohio Substitute License, or Ohio Teaching Certificate
· Qualified to instruct in our schools in the absence of the regular teacher
· Willingness to support the mission and vision of Beaumont
· The position requires VIRTUS certification and FBI/BCI background check

Position Responsibilities:
· Checks in/out with authorized personnel at the beginning of the day and prior to leaving
· Reviews with the principal or designee, all plans, duties, and schedules to be followed during the teaching day, teaches the outlined lesson, and maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which they are assigned
· Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates
· Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and surrounding areas

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. General office environment. Working conditions will require working in front of a computer for several hours. Occasionally working outside standard working days or hours is required. Frequent in-person meetings for individuals or groups, virtual meetings, and phone calls. The noise level in the work environment is indicative of a school environment; however, variations in noise level may occur during school announcements, changing classes, or school events.
