BHR is a behavioral healthcare management company that manages an outpatient mental health clinic that seeks a Medical Records Coordinator for our Union City clinic. This position will provide medical records support to clinics that are staffed with Board Certified Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, Psychiatric Nurses and other Clinicians.

Monday – Friday; 8:30am to 5pm
Must have a certification in Medical Technology, Medical Office Assistant, or a 2 year Associate Degree in Medical Technology or Health Information Management. Or Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work.
A minimum of 2 years recent experience working in a healthcare environment. With a minimum of 1 year experience in the area of medical records, quality assurance or utilization review.
High volume clinic with lots of daily medical records requests. Solid communication skills (verbal & written). Must be flexible and have the ability commute to other locations for monthly audits or meetings. Must be reliable and punctual for all shifts.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility of the Medical Records Technician is to maintain client charts with a keen focus on the quality assurance of the clinic and to keep all patient records confidential. Daily monitoring combined with improvement. The Medical Records Technician organizes and manages health information data, ensures its quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security in both paper and electronic systems, and maintains patients’ medical and treatment histories. The coordinator performs routine administrative tasks associated with maintaining medical records, invoices, correspondences, and other records arranged in paper and/or electronic files according to an established system. Must communicate well with clinical staff and patients to ensure efficiency and adherence to required paperwork. This person must also interact with external agencies including other health care professionals, legal representatives, government and regulatory agents by releasing patients’ protected health information according to federal, state, and agency guidelines.
