Autism Teacher/Specialist

School based position providing autism support services to public school students.

Services include but are not limited to:

• Evaluate developmental skills of clients.

• Reviews and discusses medical and developmental case histories with interdisciplinary team to determine individual client evaluation needs and strategies.

• Writes comprehensive interdisciplinary evaluation and follow-up reports to include information about current levels of ability and recommendations for intervention.

• Develops appropriate treatment goals and activities related to the specific needs of clients, and to identify equipment or materials to be used in treatment.

• Provides ongoing support to clients, including consultative and direct therapy services in accordance with the student’s IEP

• Provides training and/or technical assistance to families and others involved in the development of clients.

• Conducts interdisciplinary and trans disciplinary developmental evaluations/assessments.

• Coordinates the transition of clients to ongoing services.

• Assists with training of new staff and consultants.

• Collaborates with outside individuals and agencies in order to provide timely and seamless services to eligible children and families.

• Assists in conducting program evaluation and monitoring, including the development of procedures and forms as needed.

• Maintains a secure health environment for clients.

• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and related school based services

• Skill in communicating effectively with a variety of people of various socio-economic and educational backgrounds.

• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients.

• Ability to effectively communicate.

• Knowledge of developmental screening and assessment tools and procedures.

• Professional behavior.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour

Experience:

• Special education: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• WVDE Licensure with AU Endorsement (Required)
